With a background in writing, editing, communications, and digital + social media for more than ten years, Melissa Vogt has established herself as a wine industry veteran.
Her career began in freelance writing about wine, craft beer, spirits, and food in San Francisco. Following the receipt of her Masters in Rhetoric and Composition from Sonoma State University, Melissa began working and writing for well-known local publications Wine Country This Week and Very Napa Valley. Master Sommelier Ian Cauble's Somm Select, Katie Hamilton Shaffer's Feast it Forward, and the Sonoma County Winegrowers are other esteemed local companies and organizations with which Melissa has worked.
Following her years in the local wine industry, Melissa took on the role of Deputy Editor at Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate, the world's most prestigious wine review publication. Her role also included content creation for the Wine Journal blog on www.robertparker.com.
Melissa has her Bachelors in English and Masters in Rhetoric and Composition. She earned her WSET Advanced Level III Certification through Napa Valley Wine Academy and her California Wine Appellation Specialist Certification through San Francisco Wine School.
